The $5,563 mistake I made in Bali

The $5,563 mistake I made in Bali

"Dear Elise. The Artini Resort has notified us that you did not check in for your 25-night booking today. You've been marked as a no-show."

The day before the Bali retreat (that I was hosting) kicked off, I was casually checking my work email while feeling calm, prepped and ready to rock the next marathon of a week.

But this email stopped me in my easy-breezy, Bali tracks.

"Hmmm... I cancelled all my other hotel bookings. This email must be a mistake," I thought. "I'll just quickly check my business credit card – just to confirm."

A few minutes later, my zen-like state had shifted to a mild state of panic.

$5,563.

That was the pending transaction sitting on my business credit card.

Read on to find out how this story unravels…

4 key ways I'm living my best life

4 key ways I'm living my best life

It's Elise's Best Life!

I'm here at Your Best Life Retreat hosted by Ingo Rauth, who is a professor from University of Toronto. He calls himself an Innovation Shrink, so he basically walks you through how to look at your life as it currently is, and design it in a way of how you ultimately want it to be.

This has been 2 and a 1/2 days of looking inwards, and thinking about my life in a way that I really haven't taken the time to do so maybe ever.

Some of the exercises were really challenging, but I think really, really worthwhile, too.

Today, I’m covering four takeaways that I've learned from attending Your Best Life Retreat.

December 2018 income report: $30,979.68

December 2018 income report: $30,979.68

I’ve always had a long-standing belief that since I’m in the business of helping people get started with their own businesses, I have a responsibility to be transparent about what life is REALLY like on this side.

Sure, there ARE glamorous perks.

But there’s real sh*t happening too. I hope you’ve seen that over the last 12 months.

With that said, stay tuned until the end of this post… where I have a special announcement to share with you. 🙂

My 2018 review (and what's changing for 2019)

My 2018 review (and what's changing for 2019)

The Latin phrase "omne trium perfectum" suggests that everything that comes in threes is perfect.

It’s exhilarating and oddly satisfying to be sitting down and writing out my year in review – for the third consecutive time.

I started writing these reviews after my 2016 business year. I just skimmed through that first review post and it’s quite eye-opening to see where my head was at then… and where I’m at going into 2019.

The modern-day diary? Perhaps.

If you’re curious and want to get caught up on my previous business diaries, check out:

Without further ado, let’s dive into my 2018 review!

As usual, I’m looking back on the last year of my business and answering the following:

  1. What did I do well last year?

  2. What didn’t I do so well last year?

  3. What am I working towards this year?

  4. What is this year's theme?

Let’s get to it!

November 2018 income report: $25,534.18

November 2018 income report: $25,534.18

When I look back on my activities over November, I see one big focus that was for the business and two smaller focuses that were for me personally (but probably have ripple effects over to the business, too).

If you follow my Instagram Stories, you might have a good idea what my focuses in November were. 😁

Well…

I won’t keep you in suspense any longer.

Here’s where my head was at over the month of November:

BIG BUSINESS FOCUS #1:

Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, plus the *last chance* push to enroll in InstaGrowth Boss before the price goes up this month (If You're Reading This It's Too Late™ - Drake.)

SMALLER PERSONAL FOCUS #2 + #3:

Attending a personal development retreat just outside of Toronto, hosted by The June Motel and Ingo Rauth, as well as a coaching training called Coactive.

A holiday gift guide for the Instagram lover in your life

A holiday gift guide for the Instagram lover in your life

I don't know if you've noticed, but I am a bit of an unpaid, unofficial Instagram ambassador and cheerleader. (Hit me up, @Instagram.)

Over the last couple of years, I've built a business around the app, taught people how to do the same and gone on some pretty wild sponsored trips around the world!

When it comes to buying goodies to help me make epic content, I haven't held back over the years.

I'm forever resisting the urge to buy a new phone case to match my aesthetic, I've invested in a video stabilizer to help make my Instagram Stories look profesh, and I even own a selfie ring light like a stereotypical millennial.

So if you're at a loss of what to get the Instagram addict in your life - I'm ya gurl. Here are my favorite gift ideas of Instagram lovers!

Mmm… do you smell that?

Chestnuts are roasting over open fires… Jack Frost is nipping at your nose…

That’s right people, it’s finally (FINALLY!) the holidays again!

But this is no shock to you. I mean… you’ve already done your holiday shopping and your yard is full of inflatable snowmen and lights, right?

*crickets*

Ooooh... that’s probably how you wound up here.

Well, I can’t help you decorate your yard (maybe if you bribe me with homemade sugar cookies) but I can help with the gift part.

Especially if you’re needing gift ideas for the travel lover on your list.

Sensible, packable and with my travel stamp of approval – I dare you not to buy them for yourself (but I’m not here to judge).
